BitBox Software Update: VAG Bosch MG1CS111 Gen2 Support Released
BitSoftware has released a major update for the BitBox flasher, extending the capabilities of the Bosch MG1/MD1 Gen2 BENCH [SM2/SM3 ONLY] module. This latest update introduces BSL mode unlocking and bench mode operations for locked VAG 2020+ Engine Control Units.
Key Features and Protocol Capabilities
The new release enables full support for locked Bosch MG1CS111 Gen2 ECUs found in VAG petrol vehicles produced from 2020 onwards, powered by the Infineon Aurix TC298 microcontroller.
Key Operations Supported:
- BSL mode unlock — initial unlocking operation performed via direct pinout connection.
- Bench mode operations — subsequent reading, writing, and ECU flashing performed directly on the bench without opening the enclosure.
- Automatic checksum correction — applied automatically during the write procedure.
Required Hardware and Compatibility
This protocol operates exclusively within the Scanmatik bench framework.
Required Equipment:
- BitBox USB dongle with active license for Bosch MG1/MD1 Gen2 BENCH module.
- Scanmatik 2 Pro or Scanmatik 3 interface (SM2/SM3 ONLY).
- For proper module operation, it is recommended to use a reliable Boot-Bench adapter (e.g., Scanmatik TunerWire).
- Stable bench power supply (12V–14V) with proper pinout connections.
