FORScan v2.4 Beta Is No Longer Available for Download
The FORScan developer has announced the end of beta testing for FORScan v2.4. The beta version is no longer available for download to new users, and no further updates for this branch will be released.
The main reason for this decision is the inability to ensure sufficiently stable and safe ECU and module programming under the current conditions.
Why FORScan v2.4 Beta Development Has Been Discontinued
Development and testing of FORScan v2.4 continued for more than five years. During this period, the module flashing process was significantly improved and brought close to a highly refined state. However, several fundamental issues could not be resolved.
According to the FORScan developer, the main reasons include:
- inability to implement a complete Programmable Module Installation (PMI) procedure due to restricted access to firmware information and official update procedures;
- inability to guarantee successful and safe module programming even when all requirements are met and the flashing process itself is performed correctly;
- specific behavior of certain electronic modules and possible errors in the firmware itself;
- inability to reliably verify whether a user has sufficient qualifications to safely use FORScan v2.4 programming functions;
- very high technical support costs related to recovering modules that have been damaged or “bricked” during programming;
- lack of a guaranteed recovery method for some damaged modules;
- limited prospects for further development of this functionality due to restricted access to the necessary technical information.
FORScan v2.4 Features Were Not Included in the Extended License Price
The developer has also clarified that the module programming functionality available in FORScan v2.4 Beta was experimental.
Some users with a paid FORScan Extended License were granted access to v2.4 as part of engineering support. However, the beta programming functionality itself was not officially included in the price of the Extended License and users did not pay separately for these features.
This clarification is prticularly relevant for users who purchased an Extended License primarily to obtain access to FORScan v2.4.
What Happens to Existing FORScan v2.4 Installations?
Users who installed FORScan v2.4 before April 20, 2026 may continue using the installed version until their current license expires.
However, several important restrictions now apply:
- no further FORScan v2.4 updates will be released;
- active development of the v2.4 branch has ended;
- technical support for v2.4 will only be provided in exceptional cases.
This means existing users can continue working with their installed version while their license remains valid, but FORScan v2.4 should now be considered a discontinued beta branch.
Refunds for FORScan Extended License Users
Users who purchased a FORScan Extended License specifically to gain access to FORScan v2.4, but did not manage to install the beta version, may contact FORScan support.
In such cases, the developer offers the possibility to:
- revoke the purchased license;
- request a refund.
Users who fall into this category should contact FORScan technical support directly to resolve the licensing issue.
FORScan v2.4 Beta Has Officially Been Discontinued
The end of FORScan v2.4 Beta distribution marks the conclusion of a development effort that lasted more than five years and focused heavily on advanced vehicle module programming capabilities.
Despite substantial improvements to the flashing process, restricted access to Ford firmware and update information, the specific behavior of certain control modules, and the risk of module damage prevent the developer from guaranteeing the required level of safety.
